Overview
Whether you're already a DJ or looking to create your first track this course will take you through all three of our music production courses and teach you how to create and release your own standout tracks.
Requirements
No prior musical knowledge or experience required.
1-2-1 Tuition
Lessons are all taught one-on-one from our Birmingham studios. You'll never be in a group, and you can learn at your own pace.
Flexible Scheduling
There are four two-hour lessons that you can book any day of the week at any of our studios. All equipment is provided and lesson times are 10am, 12pm, 2pm, 4pm, 6pm or 8pm, once booked you can reschedule when needed.
Graduates Get Benefits
Music production graduates will be given first-hand advice on approaching record labels and we will submit suitable tracks to our record label partners. Previous students have released on Spinnin', Toolroom, Defected, Sony and Universal! Graduates can also spin their tunes on the dance floors of our club partners like Ministry of Sound and at all of the LSA DJ gigs. It goes without saying that graduates will join our growing community of DJs and producers who actively support each other, it's like one happy family.

Building A Track
Learn all about the famous Technic 1210 turntables, how to set them up and how to cue your records and mix them in. Learn how to sequence Audio and Midi drums and melodies to begin to build your first track. We’ll make sure you know how to correctly follow musical phrasing norms and create a track which will flow on the dance floor. You’ll also be shown how to use all the audio editing tools at your disposal.

How To Mix Down Your Track
Start learning how to mix down your track using correct gain theory and practical knowledge. We’ll make sure your track follows industry targets and is ready for more advanced mastering.

Sampling
Learn all about the art of sampling from the Amen Break to the humble 808 Kick. We’ll show you have to source samples correctly and use them creatively to reinvent a sound.

Composing Harmonically
We’ll make sure you are composing your tracks harmonically and show you some tricks of the trade to help you compose melodies in key and plan your harmonic chord progressions.

Working With Vocals
We’ll show you how to produce with vocals to give your tracks a memorable identity.

We’ll teach you all about synthesis, the art of creating your own sounds using a synthesiser. You’ll learn all about ADSR and the modular synth layout.
